The era known as the Weimar republic saw certain achievements that would not resurface until the aftermath of the second world war. One of the most substantial achievements of this era was the progression of LGBTQ rights and the emergence of what would today be considered as a transgender community. The interest in sexology and LGBTQ rights in the early 20th century is important in helping us understand what successful strategies brought this subject to the stage and how fascism effected its disappearance from history.
